ABOUT

2021 新北市多元文化節
Culture Festival in New Taipei City

What cultures can you "hear" in your daily life?

From the vending trucks traversing the streets calling on people to buy steamed buns, the Taiwanese opera that grandma likes to watch on TV, the Japanese street performers in the park busking to raise travel expenses, to the owner of the Southeast Asian restaurant owner speaking Burmese... With its 4 million residents, New Taipei City prides itself on its melting pot of diverse cultures.  Each and every one of us also contains different cultural elements in us.

In 2021, the New Taipei City Government will hold its first-ever "Multicultural Festival" in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through a series of cultural activities lasting for a month, many different cultural voices will be heard spanning different generations, so that we can all communicate, exchange and learn from each other.

From "finding" the native songs of one's own culture, to "finding" traces of Southeast Asian life in the city, and finally "finding" a group of people from different cultural backgrounds to build a world music village in the park! So, are you ready? Let’s go find some amazing sounds and voices!
